Integrated Controls
Although in Scott's house, the refrigerator, toaster, or washing machine have not yet been connected to the Internet as they have in some "smart" houses, the rest of the technology in the house is hard to beat.
One event confirms that. The home won CEDIA's award for the Best Integrated Home Over $600,000 in September 2001.
The fact that Scott can easily adjust the mood of his entire home for any function is just the beginning of what he and others can do. Key pads and touch screens throughout the house provide simple-to-use multi-room control of audio, video, air conditioning, heating, lighting, security, drapes, and fireplace lighting.
The house is divided into zones - 46 zones of audio, 8 video systems sharing video sources, 14 zones of HVAC, 246 lighting circuits, and numerous security cameras and sensors.
There is central control over any zone from virtually any location - even a hotel room in Paris. From there, Scott can see a visitor at the front gate of his house or adjust the temperature in any area.
CYBERSPACE CONNECTIONS
All Internet-capable devices are on the same network and use bonded T1 line's, which allows connection to the Internet at lightning speed. Although most of the computers are connected to the network by cables, several use wireless cards that allow total mobility in the house. That allows Scott to check his e-mail while riding his exercise bike.
AUDIO/VIDEO EQUIPMENT
The house contains the ultimate in audio/video equipment, including products and services from the companies Scott heads.
