Game Room
On the lower level, visitors walk along the façade of the Digital Palace to the slide, the great room, or the game room. All these areas have mahogany finishes that rival fine furniture, but the mahogany in the game room was cut to show a different pattern in the grain.
Convenient to all these areas is the bar, a great place to unwind, relax, enjoy a drink before or after a movie or a round of 8-ball or pocket billiards. Guinness, Bass and an assortment of light beers are always available on tap. The bar features quarter-sawn oak parquet flooring, mahogany paneling, mahogany moldings, mahogany cabinets, a custom-leaded mirror, granite-and-copper countertops, two Summit under-counter refrigerators, and a Whirlpool icemaker. The ultra-modern flat-screen plasma television often is used to view sporting events from around the country. When not in use, it is hidden by the bar shelving with glasses and bottles of spirits. When needed, it rises from between two sections of shelving with the touch of a button.
The bar back has quatrefoil designs similar to the ceiling and the glass on the balcony doors. The green leather bar stools and the upholstered custom billiard viewing chairs are coordinated with the billiards table, a restored antique from the 1860s. An antique communion cabinet now holds the billiards equipment. The center medallion over the billiards table continues the quatrefoil theme.
