Escient Solutions

Escient® Solutions is now electronic evolutions (or e2), Central Indiana’s leading provider of custom audio/video, lighting control, and automation solutions.

Under various names, the company has implemented state-of-the-art electronics systems in some of the most prestigious homes and businesses throughout the Midwest since 1985. The company is regarded as a leader in the audio/video field, designing high-caliber solutions rather than simply installing equipment.

From 1996 until the company was sold in 2003, Scott Jones acted as Chairman of the Board.

In January 2003, Escient Solutions was sold to its banker, who also was both a commercial and residential customer of the company. After Mike Alley retired from banking in 2002, his company, Patriot Investments, LLC, bought Escient Solutions. Prior to that, Mr. Alley served as President and CEO of Fifth Third Bank of Central Indiana, an affiliate of Fifth Third Bancorp.

The company won CEDIA’s 1999 award for Best Home Theatre Electronic System Design over $150,000 for Scott Jones’ 20-seat Digital Palace.

The company was founded in 1985 as Tom Doherty, Inc. Tom Doherty realized the need to make electronics easy to operate and aesthetically pleasing. However, he says there was no real model in the consumer electronics world for a Custom Audio and Video installation firm. Mr. Doherty solved this problem by modeling the audio/video company after professional services such as architectural firms. That’s why his company’s name was followed by the words, "Architectural Audio & Video."

The Escient connection. In 1996, Tom Doherty, Inc., became a subsidiary of Escient, LLC, which was started by four people, including Tom Doherty and Scott Jones. Later it became a subsidiary of Escient Technologies, LLC.
