Circular Slide

Each and every feature in the Jones residence reflects another element of his diverse personality and unique taste. Along with his serious business persona, Scott is very much a playful character. And, except for the sword with the bathroom tissue, no singular feature in his home better represents the playful side of Scott than the spiral slide, which transports adventuresome souls from the main level to the lower level in an instant.

Circular Slide

It took more than 15 months for one man to build the 28-foot wooden circular mahogany slide, although he figured out how to build it in one night. Forming the slide with a cold-molding technique, he used two kinds of mahogany, 30 gallons of epoxy, and 40,000 staples, removing 36,000 of them after the epoxy dried. Once the slide had been installed in the Jones residence, the stairs were built around the slide so that they were "married" to its curvature. Each of eight different colored lights alternates illuminating the stairs and slide, one of the major attractions in the home.
